Doro, a company providing technology to senior people – including accessible mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches – has appointed a new MD for the UK & Ireland.
Ben Crompton takes over from Peter Marsden, who after six years in the role will head up the new central direct-to-consumer division and online strategy.
Doro is a Swedish company listed on Stockholm’s Nasdaq Stock Exchange. It is headquartered in Malmö and has sales operations in 27 countries.
Crompton has 20 years’ experience in the industry, beginning his time at Orange and then Blackberry. Ben joined Doro in 2019 as senior channel sales account manager, helping to cement the company’s position as the UK market leader for senior phones.
He will work with suppliers, brand partners and stakeholders to drive affinity with Doro’s customer base, helping to expand the business’ product offering and maximising growth.
“Ben’s commitment to the business and innovating Doro’s senior product offering makes him the perfect fit for the role,” said Jörgen Nilsson, Doro president & CEO.
“His industry expertise and knowledge of the senior market will be invaluable in aiding Doro on its journey to expand in the UK and Ireland.
“Ben’s appointment, in addition to Peter Marsden’s move to head up our online strategy, will further strengthen our customer and partner relationships, the future is truly bright.”
Crompton added: “I’ve seen first-hand how accessible, intuitive technology has helped to revolutionise the everyday for seniors, giving them greater independence. It’s for these reasons that I’m motivated to help carry forward Doro’s offering and growth in my new role as Managing Director, UK and Ireland.
“I’m looking forward to driving further possibilities for seniors and our partners as we expand our Doro offering in 2024 – taking this beyond our UK senior market leading position in mobile phones and into wider senior technology products.
“A journey that began in 2023 with the introduction of the Doro Watch and Doro Tablet, as well as the soon to launch Doro HearingBuds, it is critical to make next-generation technology accessible for seniors. This demographic is often forgotten by tech manufacturers but is and will remain a priority for this company.”
