With the conclusion of Dragons’ Den series 22 last Thursday night, it brought to an end a dramatic eight weeks in the Den.
Budding entrepreneurs came and went, succeeded and failed, pitched and hoped; but in the end, the cream rose to the top and a total of 20 companies were successful in winning the Dragons over to gain their pledge of investment.
Away from the Den, some deals have been confirmed to have gone through, others are still unclear and one – Choppity – did not ultimately materialise.
But which Dragon pledged to invest the most during the series?
Sara Davies MBE is the only Dragon, to BusinessCloud’s knowledge, to have had all of her series 22 deals go through. The North-East entrepreneur and investor made four investments throughout the series which totalled a sum of £190,000.
Touker Suleyman followed Davies’ tracks by also investing in four companies; however only two of those have been confirmed to have gone through. He pledged a total of £210,000 during his time on series 22.
Mistakes, arguments & tears – my verdict on latest series of Dragons’ Den
Tech tycoon Steven Bartlett raised the bar by investing in six companies during the series at a total of £270,000. Four of those have been signed.
Another Dragon who invested in six companies is Deborah Meaden; however, every one of those deals was split with another Dragon. She mirrored Davies by pledging to invest £190,000, and four of those deals have been signed.
It was Dragons’ Den ever-present Peter Jones, though, who topped the charts this season. He pledged to invest in seven companies with his amount totalling a whopping £350,000. However, we know he did pledge to invest £100,000 in Choppity, a deal which fell through off screen.
The three guest Dragons – Joe Wicks, Trinny Woodall and Emma Grede – all made a single investment each, with their combined total amounting to £150,000. Grede made the only solo investment by a guest Dragon when she signed a deal with Brandon and Jaydon Manders worth £90,000.
