Embedded finance platform Railsbank has announced several strategic moves to support growth and build expertise in the sports industry, including the appointment of two senior leaders.

Will Carling OBE, former England rugby captain and current leadership mentor at England Rugby Union, has been given an advisory role within Railsbank’s partnerships team.

Meanwhile former Formula 1 board advisor Jon Hall has joined as senior advisor to its business strategies across a range of markets.

Meanwhile, Railsbank co-founder and CEO Nigel Verdon is set to become a mentor to the England rugby team. Verdon will use his long financial services industry experience to help players develop their own careers once they retire from the game.

“It is the natural next step to build our sports proposition as we have a deep understanding and insight into sports at Railsbank,” said Verdon.

“We have a number of employees who have invested large parts of their own lives across a whole spectrum of sport, including a number of international champions and Olympians, myself proudly included in that list – admittedly a long time ago in my teens.

“I am thrilled to showcase our investment into this arena with a number of highly influential hires. Will and Jon both join Railsbank at a time of great growth and opportunity, with Railsbank at the forefront of innovation in developing and implementing Embedded Finance experiences for fans across sporting types.”
