Manchester United has announced a multi-year agreement with Sokin, appointing the UK-headquartered FinTech as the club’s official global business payment solutions partner.

The news comes after the London-based firm, which is backed by former Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, secured £12m in debt funding this January.

The business will provide the 13-time Premier League champions with its global business payments platform, aiming to promote seamless and efficient international business-to-business transactions.

It marks a major step forward in the Red Devils’ commitment to enhancing its global operations through smarter and faster business-to-business payment solutions.

Sokin recently ranked 9th in the Sunday Times Tech 100 and uses AI to make its payments platform more efficient, passing the savings to clients.

Its all-in-one system looks to simplify cross-border payments, collections and treasury tasks, giving businesses the clarity and control to grow worldwide.

This is not the company’s first venture into the world of sports, having previously partnered with a range of top European football clubs as well as the British & Irish Lions for the Test series in Australia this summer.

“We are delighted to welcome Sokin to the Manchester United family,” said Marc Armstrong, chief business officer at Manchester United.

“Their global business payments infrastructure and forward-thinking approach align perfectly with our commitment to delivering best-in-class services and experiences to our fans and partners across the world.”

Vroon Modgill, CEO of Sokin, added: “Partnering with Manchester United, one of the most iconic teams in global sport, represents a pivotal moment for Sokin and demonstrates the scale we’ve achieved as a business.

“The way United connects with hundreds of millions of supporters in every corner of the globe, mirrors our own ambition to empower businesses of all sizes to operate internationally, with ease and efficiency.

“This partnership perfectly embodies our mission to break down the barriers to global commerce – there’s no better partner than a club that defines what it means to be truly global.”
