UKFast unveils Threat Monitoring system
Manchester-based technology provider UKFast has announced the launch of a security monitoring service that actively seeks out malicious attempts to access systems.
Recent government stats show almost half of all UK businesses identified at least one cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months. This rises to two-thirds among medium firms and large firms.
Threat Monitoring delivers a comprehensive monitoring solution, combining a set of tools that continuously analyse data, intelligently distinguishing between potential security breaches and normal activity.
UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones argues that it’s the responsibility of hosting providers to support clients towards greater data protection standards and compliance with the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation.
“Without the proper protocols, business owners put themselves and their customers at risk. It makes perfect sense for businesses to bring their security arrangements and their hosting together under one roof,” he said.
“We’ve pioneered a range of security features within our managed services because, as a hosting provider, it’s our responsibility to keep customers online wherever possible.
“By delivering the full package of defence measures, we close the support gap that occurs when multiple providers are involved, making our service faster and significantly more cost-effective.”
Threat Monitoring includes host-based intrusion detection (HIDS), vulnerability scanning, file integrity monitoring (FIM), Rootkit detection and server baseline hardening.
Daily scans compare servers to industry-recognised baseline standards including PCI DSS, CIS and NIST to ascertain where improvements might be made.
Jones said: “It’s incredibly important for eCommerce businesses to demonstrate they’re meeting certain standards when it comes to data privacy and security. Threat Monitoring flags a number of key factors which could prevent firms from retaining their PCI compliance standard.”
Many services and solutions offer mitigation against specific attack types, but Threat Monitoring from UKFast delivers a fully comprehensive package to help businesses identify and defend against a wide range of threats.
Users have the option to combine Threat Monitoring with Threat Response, which assigns UKFast’s security team to proactively respond to and mitigate threats as they arise.
UKFast’s commitment to developing security solutions for its clients has seen recent investment in new product lines alongside the acquisition of CHECK and CREST accredited cyber security firm Pentest Ltd by its security arm, Secarma.
