Ride-sharing app Uber has introduced new features to its driver-side app.
The new features include a real-time earnings tracker, which shows drivers exactly how much money they are making as they drive.
The newly designed app follows Uber’s ‘180 days of change’ program which is designed to make it easier to collect and action frequently requested updates and changes made by drivers.
“While 180 Days was about correcting missteps of the past, we also needed to think longer term, and the obvious place to start was the Driver app,” said Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi in a statement.
Other new features in the app include a new status bar which will help drivers decide on their next location. This feature analyses clusters of ride requests and will alert drivers to areas where requests are increasing.
There is also a newly added notification feature which allows drivers to quickly see updates from the company, and feedback from riders including a summary of ‘compliments’ from their passengers.
“These are just a few highlights from the new Driver app,” the company said in a blog.
“The journey is only beginning. Going forward, we’ll work to make driving a little easier and a little less stressful. To make sure all our drivers are not only heard, but listened to. And to create inspiring products that set drivers up for success, every step of the way.”
“We knew we couldn’t take the approach we’d taken in the past: redesign the app based on what we thought drivers wanted, launch it, then hope for the best. Instead we needed to listen to what drivers told us they needed, and shape the new app alongside them.”
The company is preparing for a potential initial public offering in 2019.
