Johns joins the contextual advertising company from Spotify

Global contextual advertising company Seedtag has appointed Marko Johns as its new UK managing director and international head of agency.

In his dual role, Johns will lead the Seedtag UK team, driving the growth of the UK contextual advertising market, while also working with wider Seedtag agency teams to develop multi-territory agency partnerships.

Seedtag’s contextual AI allows brands to engage with consumers within their interests on a cookie-free basis. The firm, founded in Madrid in 2014 by two ex-Googlers who wanted to get the most out of editorial images, today employs more than 500 people.

Johns brings 20 years of experience to the role, with a career spanning prestigious media companies such as ITV, Viacom, Yahoo and Spotify.

Prior to joining Seedtag, he led a global team as head of international agency development at Spotify and throughout his career has cultivated strong relationships and developed innovative models with a number of leading agencies and brands.

“Marko brings with him rich experience with some of the biggest brands in media,” said Jana Eisenstein, EMEA SVP at Seedtag.

“We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional results to our advertising clients and publisher partners as we transition to a privacy-first, cookieless world, and Marko’s ability to cultivate close partnerships with brands and agencies will be integral to demonstrating the power of contextual solutions.”

Johns said: “I first encountered Seedtag when I was leading the international strategic partnerships team at Yahoo and I was fascinated by their product,” said Johns.

“I’m glad to find that the team behind it are just as brilliant and I’ve been blown away by their contagious can-do attitude.

“As the marketplace adjusts to ongoing and fundamental change, I’m super excited to play a part in carving out a space for Seedtag’s solutions and standing at the cutting edge of contextual AI.”
