A popular quiz app in America has officially launched in the UK with TV presenter and mathematician Rachel Riley as its celebrity ambassador.

FleetWit was founded in New York City by trivia lover David Metz and Julien Loutre, one of the first Facebook employees in Europe.

Like HQ Trivia, FleetWit offers players a chance to test their knowledge and compete against each other in live quiz races for cash prizes.

In the UK, FleetWit will be represented by Rachel Riley, co-presenter of puzzle show Countdown and its comedy spin-off 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

The 32-year-old will be donating all her FleetWit earnings to the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust (ALMT), a registered children’s charitable trust striving to mitigate the suffering of the world’s most marginalised children.

Riley said: “When I was at Uni, our whole college bar would gather round the quiz machine for a few games every night.

“Now that my Uni days are behind me, I’m ecstatic to have FleetWit right there on my phone for whenever I need my quick quiz fix.”

Co-founder Metz said: “Launching in UK is only the beginning of FleetWit’s journey.

“We have built an evergreen platform with a lasting business model. We are a community and appeal to the top-tier of trivia players who could make a living by competing on our platform.”

Every day at 7pm, FleetWit will host free live trivia where the top 100 players will win a prize.
