Global intelligent spaces firm Purple is expanding into the US and beyond after opening a new North American headquarters in Austin, Texas. Purple eyes US boost after opening Austin, Texas, office

Adding another location to an ever-growing list, the expansion will enable the North West-based company to build on its existing American team and meet increasing market demand.

CEO of Purple Gavin Wheeldon also writes the Gadget Gary column for BusinessCloud, and says his team has already “made great strides” on the other side of the Atlantic.

Purple specialises in delivering a WiFi solution that generates real-time analytics and marketing for venues and businesses that want to engage with visitors and understand the use of physical spaces.

Through the process of creating ‘Intelligent Spaces’, Purple can help brands to learn more about their location and customer base, and help them to take action.

Purple experienced significant growth in 2016, reaching 20 million users, with deployments in 73 countries and offices based in the UK, Spain, Chile, Singapore and Australia.

Wheeldon said: “The US is the largest market in the world for what we do.

“We already have a small team in place who have made great strides in establishing the brand and winning marquee customers and partners.

“Investing further in our US presence was a logical decision and puts us in the perfect position to accelerate our US growth considerably, with a physical office and a greatly expanded team.”

In addition to being home to a number of large technology names, including Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Google, Austin is attracting a number of smaller tech companies and is viewed as a nurturing hub for innovation and fast growth enterprises.

This made the city a strategic choice for Purple to establish itself and attract a dynamic sales and customer support team.

America is already the firm’s largest market, and the number of US customers is expected to soar in 2017.

Bill Williams, US sales director, said: “Purple’s solution has been successfully deployed across thousands of venues in the U.S. and appetite has grown at an exponential rate.

“With major partners like CenturyLink, NCR, CDW and others we are in a strong position to accelerate this growth and our Downtown Austin office will be the heart of that growth.

“The calibre of people we have already attracted to join the team in Austin has been impressive, and with another 25 heads being recruited right now I am looking forward to having a world class team in place.”

The team will serve Purple’s extensive existing US customers including Hyatt Hotels, Legoland and Outback Steak Houses, as well as reaching out to new prospects, service providers and partners across the region.
