Three more speakers have been unveiled for BusinessCloud’s FUEL Manchester 2025 event on 9th October.
Distology CEO Hayley Roberts will join Gavin Wheeldon, founder and CEO of Purple, and S&W tax director Gary Fenemore on the breakfast panel of the ground-breaking event at No.1 Circle Square, Oxford Road.
FUEL Manchester is an innovative event created to fuel business growth for promising startups and scaleups.
It’s two events in one, beginning with a whistle-stop discussion of some of the big questions facing businesses and finishing with a series of exclusive, invite-only masterclasses for a cohort of exciting companies.
The event is supported by GM Business Growth Hub, Bruntwood SciTech and S&W.

Founded in 2014, Distology is a specialist in cloud-based cybersecurity technology, representing vendors of IT security technology products across EMEA. The firm has been led by Roberts since 2015.
In 2021 it received investment from mid-market private equity firm NorthEdge to drive its aggressive growth plans. It has since added capabilities around identity, workforce and operational technology security.
In 2003 Northern Leader Wheeldon launched Applied Language Solutions (ALS) with the help of a second mortgage and ran up credit card debts of £54,000. While at ALS he appeared on Dragons’ Den and would eventually sell to Capita for £67.5m.
He quickly realised that doing nothing wasn’t for him and in 2012 he launched Purple – a vital tool to allow businesses to turn their physical venues into intelligent spaces – because of his frustration at the quality of the WiFi he kept experiencing.
Fenemore is an experienced tax director who has worked with businesses throughout all stages of their lifecycle. He has provided initial structuring guidance, fundraising input, advice on the incentivisation and retention of employees, R&D claims, international tax input and M&A support, including tax advice and structuring on exit events.
Fenemore has acted for rapidly scaling startup clients through to clients expanding into overseas markets ahead of a potential listing event.
FUEL Manchester 2025 will be chaired by award-winning executive editor Chris Maguire.
Companies interested in joining the cohort for the masterclasses – which span funding, growth planning, people & performance and technology – can contact editor Jonathan Symcox here. There are a total of 25 spaces available and they are filling up rapidly.
