Manchester has been crowned as the UK’s top regional ‘tech city’.
Earlier this year the UK Tech Cities report by real estate advisor CBRE, saw Manchester retain its number one spot as the leading tech location, outside London.
Now WIRED’s 2022 Trailblazer programme, which has identified 75 SMEs who are tackling some of the world’s biggest challenges, has highlighted 13 North West firms that are leading the charge, with the majority based in Manchester.
The subject with be discussed at the inaugural Tech Barometer event on November 24th, where speakers will include David Foreman, managing director of Praetura Ventures and Patience Tucker, CEO of digital payments specialist wi-Q.
The Tech Barometer event has been organised by tech specialist Fairmont Recruitment and will take place at their new office in Mosley Street.
Award-winning editor Chris Maguire will host the event, which will look at everything from confidence levels in the sector, investment and recruitment.
Also speaking at the Tech Barometer event will be Jack Donohue, CEO and founder of Fairmont Recruitment. Established in 2018, tech specialist Fairmont has pledged to do recruitment differently and switched staff to four-day weeks last year.
The 13 North West businesses included in the WIRED’s 2022 Trailblazers are Aptus Utilities; One+All; SmartKem; CTS; Orka Technology Group; Sorted; Love Energy Savings; Peak; Sourceful; The MAPD Group; PHMG; ME Litigation Funding; and Ripe Thinking.
