InsurTechAppointments

Insurwave, a London-based InsurTech platform for specialty insurance data, has appointed of Ken MacDonald to enhance its marine and specialty capabilities.

MacDonald brings over 35 years of experience to Insurwave, with a proven track record of steering and expanding businesses across various specialty (re)insurance sectors globally.

His appointment marks a strategic move for Insurwave – which featured on our InsurTech 50 ranking late last year – aimed at bolstering its marine portfolio and facilitating continued expansion into other specialty verticals.

Insurwave is a SaaS platform that offers an integrated insurance management experience to allow insurance professionals to consolidate and visualise their data in order to understand their risk and make smarter transfer decisions.

Insurwave – a better way to manage your risk data

As part of his role, MacDonald will advise on bringing Insurwave’s solutions across the insurance sector, with a particular emphasis on the marine sector, a historic strength for the company.

Throughout his time working with insurance companies, corporates, and brokers, MacDonald has experienced the inefficiencies that come with using outdated data management practices.

Having worked directly with Maersk, Miller, and Insurwave in the past, MacDonald has witnessed first-hand how Insurwave’s platform can bring the entire insurance ecosystem together to streamline the data management process and help clients continue to innovate.

Why Insurwave is growing at the double

Insurwave’s platform provides insurers, risk managers, and brokers with a streamlined and automated system for data management, including live-asset tracking and aggregate exposure monitoring.

Leveraging its recently AI-enhanced technology, Insurwave is revolutionising the industry’s approach to complex data management, by offering access to up-to-date, standardised data intelligently across the insurance value chain.

MacDonald has extensive experience in the London insurance market, where he held senior positions at Aon and Miller Insurance in broking, captives and alternative risk transfer within the global large corporate segment, before setting up his own consulting business.

Most recently, he served as executive chairman of three of Miller’s business units: marine and energy, special risks, and reinsurance, together with leading its corporate development team.

“Ken’s experience in specialty insurance, and in advising large corporations and captives, compliments our growth strategy. We look forward to his insights and input to add to our momentum.”

MacDonald said: “I’m pleased to be working with Insurwave at this pivotal moment. There’s a clear need for insurance companies to streamline processes.

“I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience and relationships to elevate Insurwave’s presence and facilitate its expansion into new markets.”
