Two high profile entrepreneurs will be speaking about their experiences of selling their businesses at an exclusive event in Manchester next month.

International mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory firm Marktlink, who are headquartered in the Netherlands and were involved in an impressive 150 deals in 2022, will be holding a masterclass in the North West.

The company opened a Manchester office in 2022, headed up by UK managing partner Jonathon Parkinson, and boast a 95 per cent deal success rate.

On June 22nd, Marktlink will be holding an invitation-only masterclass at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground entitled ‘Optimising your business to be sale-ready’.

The event will be hosted by journalist and executive editor of BusinessCloud, Chris Maguire, and will include interviews with two entrepreneurs who have sold their companies.

Award-winning Elizabeth Gooch sold her Staffordshire-based back office software supplier EG Solutions to US tech group Verint for a bargain £26.3m in 2017.

Lorna Davidson sold her business Tactical Solutions to printing giant St Ives Group in 2011 in a multi-million pound deal but her retirement lasted four years before she launched RedWigWam, which is turning the world of recruitment on its head.

Selling your business masterclass to take place in Manchester

Gooch and Davidson will be sharing their experiences at the event, which is free to attend and without any obligation. It’s aimed at business owners and entrepreneurs thinking about selling their business within the next five years.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Getting your business ready for sale;
  • Maximizing the value;
  • The process of the sale;
  • How valuations work; and
  • Exit scenarios
  • Life after exit.

Gert-Jan van Holten, associate partner at Marktlink, said: “Marktlink was founded by real entrepreneurs so we recognise that and the importance of talking in a language that business owners understand.

“People put their life and soul into building a business but often don’t maximize the true value because they fail to prepare properly for the exit.

“That’s the purpose of the masterclass. We know the North is a hotbed of flourishing businesses and we look forward to meeting some of them and sharing our experiences.”

Founded in 1996 in the Netherlands, Marktlink advises SMEs on mergers, acquisitions and succession planning, representing companies on the buy or sell side.
