The CEO of impact tech firm Culture Shift is the latest speaker confirmed for an event that will lift the lid on all things recruitment.

Co-founder Gemma McCall is the sixth confirmed speaker for the exclusive event – entitled ‘The Great Renegotiation – is being a HR director the hardest job in the world? – on June 29th in the stunning offices of KPMG in Manchester.

Sponsor Talos360, a leading provider of recruitment technology in the UK, has teamed up with BusinessCloud to organise the event, which will look at some of the challenges facing HR directors and some of the do’s and don’ts of hiring in today’s market.

Founded in 2018, Culture Shift has created a platform for people to confidentially and safely report workplace harassment.

McCall said employers had a big responsibility to make sure their staff felt a ‘sense of belonging’.

“Surely it’s much more beneficial for everyone to put the effort into retaining great employees,” she said. “As employers we need to get to know our team members individually and listen to them so they feel seen, heard and included, taking action if we feel we can do better for them rather than only seeing if they can do better for us.

“Our research shows that 86% of employees said working at a company with a strong ethical background was important to them. And 91% also stated that working at a company with a good reputation for treating employees fairly was integral to their happiness at work. This proves it is imperative for us as employers to really make sure our culture is diverse and inclusive and one where people feel they belong.”

At the event Talos360 will be revealing the key findings of research they commissioned, looking at everything from the language used in job adverts to how best to communicate with applicants.

CEO Janette Martin will welcome the panel of experts, which will be hosted by award-winning journalist and executive editor of BusinessCloud Chris Maguire.

McCall will be sharing a stage with Dean McGlone, Chief Revenue Officer at Talos360; Joanne Brien, Partner at KPMG; Darragh Lee, Head of Talent Acquisition at TalkTalk;  Ben Audley, Chief Revenue Officer at Summize; and Andrew Avanessian, CEO  of AppLearn.
