Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second most valuable crypto, is hovering just short of its record price after a 2% rise in 24 hours.
At the time of writing (7am UK), the smart contract blockchain platform is worth $4,205, just short of the $4,379 all-time high set a few days ago.
It is 10% up over seven days.
Dogecoin fell back 3% towards 26 cents after a leap in value over the weekend attributed to tweets from Elon Musk on what he hopes to see the meme coin achieve.
Tesla and Space X entrepreneur Musk, a famous backer of the coin, tweeted: “What matters imo is lowering fees, decreasing block time & increasing block size.
“A single layer network with exchanges as de facto layer 2 seems like the simplest solution for a medium of exchange.”
DOGE, which topped 28c at one point on Monday morning, remains 5% up in a week.
Market leader Bitcoin (BTC), which hit a record price of $67,016 last week, is just below $62,500 after a 1% gain. It is more or less where it was last Tuesday morning.
A more than 2% gain saw Cardano (ADA) return to $2.19, where it was on Friday morning, having dropped to $2.14 over the weekend. The coin is 3% up in a week.
A 3% boost for Ripple’s XRP puts it at $1.13, also 3% up over seven days.
Solana (SOL) hit an all-time high of $213 on Friday before settling back to $207 on Monday. It crept up to $208 in the last 24 hours, a 1% rise.
The token, connected to the Solana Foundation – an open-source project designed to facilitate the creation of decentralised apps – is 31% up in a week.
Binance Coin (BNB) climbed slightly to $485, which leaves it 2% lower than its valuation last Tuesday.
Polkadot (DOT) was up more than 1% to $44 and 7% up over seven days.
The overall market cap of the more than 13,100 coins is at $2.61 trillion, just short of the all-time high set last Thursday, after rising 1.5% in the last 24 hours.
