In the UK 70 per cent of flights are booked online and 95 per cent are now issued digitally as e-tickets.
Every week mobile phones are used to make nearly 20 million transactions.
However only two per cent of people engage with the health and care services digitally.
Technologies such as health apps, innovative ways to access health care professionals and the sharing of health records all empower the individual to take greater control of their health and improve their health outcomes.
Lancashire and South Cumbria Digital Health Board, in partnership with Chorley Council and BusinessCloud, are hosting the ‘Transforming healthcare through technology’ conference to look at how the emerging customisation of healthcare is allowing citizens to interact with the health system in more ways than ever before.
A digital revolution is occurring. Wearable tech, 3D printing and the increased presence of telecare are pieces of a health jigsaw slowly taking shape as the sector comes under pressure to be more efficient and spread innovation.
The conference and exhibition will bring together professionals and the public from across the health and care system to discuss and debate how technology innovation could improve outcomes, maximising resources but ‘powered by people’.
It will be chaired by BusinessCloud editor and award-winning journalist Chris Maguire.
