InsurTech

BusinessCloud can reveal its InsurTech 50 innovation ranking for 2021.

Readers of the online technology publication and an independent judging panel have together decided the 50 companies blazing a technology trail in the insurance industry.

The InsurTech 50 celebrates businesses of all sizes creating original tech for insurance advice, products and claims.

Honcho, a Durham-based reverse insurance auction site where insurers bid for your custom, tops the ranking.

By redefining insurance distribution, Honcho helps consumers to discover the insurance protection that is right for them – and then to get that at the best possible price.

In second spot is Leicester-headquartered DeadHappy, a digital pay-as-you-go life insurance provider.

DeadHappy’s mission is to ‘change attitudes to death’  by encouraging people to think, talk about and plan for the lives of their family after they have died.

Islington-based Sprout.ai, a developer of contextual AI – including natural language processing – for insurance claims was third ahead of Cuvva (Hackney) and Uinsure.

Manchester-based Uinsure – which aims to remove the complexity from general insurance – offers its solutions largely via mortgage advisers and insurance specialists, and specialises in home, landlords, non-standard and commercial insurance.
