AllBright festivals to empower female entrepreneurs

Technology

Female entrepreneurship funding and support platform AllBright is to host festivals in London and Manchester focused on empowering women in business.

FoundHER will be held across various locations in London from June 26-29 then at Manchester Town Hall on July 3-4.

They are aimed at founders, future founders, investors and anyone interested in entrepreneurship.

FoundHER will provide a platform for inspiring stories and advice, covering all stages of the business life cycle, from start-up to global success.

Featuring speakers in Manchester from Kids Allowed, Planet Organic, Co-op Digital, MediaCom North, and the likes of Cath Kidston MBE, Liz Earle and Martha Lane Fox in London, each event is themed to be inspirational and educational.

“The idea for FoundHER came from AllBright’s founders Debbie Wosskow and Anna Jones, born out of their frustration that there are still too many barriers to women starting and growing their own businesses in the UK,” AllBright’s North director Lou Cordwell told BusinessCloud.

“AllBright’s mission is to make the UK the best place in the world to be a female entrepreneur.

“What the festival allows us to do is to showcase some of the fantastic female entrepreneurs already out there and to provide all women with the knowledge and network they need to become successful founders.

“We want attendees to get ideas, inspiration, insight, network and confidence from the day – plus a sense of what else is to follow from AllBright!”

While events like FoundHER are a step in the right direction, there is still much to be done when it comes to supporting female entrepreneurs, says Cordwell.

Part of AllBright’s work, for example, is focused on building a fund.

“There needs to be better access to capital as well as providing easy access to other like-minded women and advisors who can help them along their journey – hence our commitment to building our academies,” she said.
