Asian ‘eCommerce enabler’ GoKwik has raised £9.5m as it looks to accelerate its UK growth.
The New Delhi-based company will look to make its WhatsApp Business solution accessible to direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands to maximise the potential of conversational commerce – the use of messaging platforms to facilitate sales.
The firm’s UK arm is currently in its early stages, but is already experiencing growth – with over 200 merchants and a team of five in its central London office.
“This is just the beginning,” Abhishek Chandra, chief revenue officer at GoKwik, told BusinessCloud. “We plan to scale the team significantly in the coming months across departments.
“Building a strong local presence is core to our strategy. This is our first year operating in the UK and our target is to achieve £10m in revenue from the region.
“Over the next five years, we’re aiming for over £300m in revenue driven by UK merchants.”
Having partnered with more than 12,000 brands to date, over 130 million shoppers have purchased from brands using GoKwik products in transactions totalling over $3bn in gross merchandise value.
The £9.5m investment was led by existing investor RTP Global as well as participation from Z47, PeakXV Partners and Think Investments.
Within just a few months of the business introducing its WhatsApp Business solution, KwikEngage, to the UK, it has onboarded over 100 DTC brands.
These include Levis, Blaupunkt, Jaques of London, Rippl Impact Gear, Buddy & Lola and Xplosive Ape.
KwikEngage helps brands retarget and convert shoppers who abandon carts, provide seamless post-purchase order updates, both up-sell and cross-sell products and gather feedback.
Chandra added: “To support this growth, we’ll continue scaling our local team and expanding our product offerings to solve even more full-funnel challenges for D2C brands across the region.
“The UK is not just a pilot market for us – it’s a strategic pillar of our global vision. We’re not here for a lightweight expansion; we’re here to build at scale, sustainably.
“Our goal is clear: to be the growth engine behind every ambitious UK D2C brand, providing the tools, intelligence, and support they need to scale efficiently and sustainably.”
Galina Chifina, partner/CEO at RTP Global, said: “It’s been a privilege to witness GoKwik’s journey from the early days to a successful European launch over the past six months.
“The founders have built an outstanding team with a clear sense of purpose and a deep understanding of what brands need to succeed in an AI-first world.
“Their data-led approach and ability to anticipate market shifts have made them a vital partner for the DTC ecosystem. We’re excited to continue supporting GoKwik as they continue to build a foothold in Europe and redefine personalised, data-driven commerce.”
