The world’s best sportspeople are now less likely to sustain injury thanks to a state-of-the art performance tracker powered by AI and military grade satellite navigation systems.
Industry-leading player tracking company STATSports, has unveiled ‘Apex 2.0’ – the new GPS tracker being used by coaches at a host of top sporting organisations to make players more durable.
This includes likely Premier League winners Liverpool, who have had one of the best injury records this season.
PSG, Arsenal, Manchester City and the England national team have all also adopted Apex 2.0 – as well as rugby’s All Blacks and South Africa Springboks; the NFL’s Washington Commanders; and MLB baseball franchise LA Dodgers.
The AI software provides new biomechanical analysis to help refine running techniques and optimise a player’s movement. This means coaches can identify potential injury risks faster, as well as unlocking previously hidden athletic potential.
Apex 2.0 harnesses military-grade RTK and GNSS satellite navigation systems. The benefit to elite practitioners – such as players, coaches and performance analysts – is increased data accuracy, meaning a decreased margin of error when coaches are ‘loading’ players in training and matches, therefore reducing the overall risk of injury.
Further, Apex 2.0 can analyse the historical performance data of players and simultaneously compare it with their current statistics. Feedback on players’ performances is delivered to practitioners in real-time during both training and matches, which can help with injury prevention.

Using the new AI-powered technology, STATSports have been able to create ‘Sprint Split Analysis’ and ‘Force Velocity’ – new profiling tools within the software. Both features help coaches identify speed deficiencies in individual players – with suggested improvements just a few clicks away. These new features mean coaches don’t need the traditional ‘timing gates’ previously seen in training. Not only does this save a club’s money, but it can unlock greater athletic potential.
That data is available much quicker, too, which is vital to coaches on-the-field during the decision-making process. Using cloud technology, the data from the players’ trackers is uploaded instantaneously to a centralised database, accessible to view and edit from anywhere via a simple web browser – an industry-first feature. This allows sports scientists and coaches to take swifter action regarding load monitoring, meaning players’ get improved collective and individual care.
