MediaTech

BusinessCloud can reveal its MediaTech 50 innovation ranking for 2023.

Readers of the online technology publication and an independent judging panel have together decided the 50 companies blazing a technology trail in media.

The MediaTech 50 – supported by digital transformation experts Sputnik Digital – celebrates businesses of all sizes creating original technology to transform production and delivery of media and the arts – from virtual worlds to music, podcasts, radio, video, film and the written word.

Manchester-based PixelMax, an immersive communications platform which brings virtual worlds to life, tops the ranking.

Edinburgh’s Speech Graphics, in third spot behind London’s Papercup AI, is the creator of software delivering speech animation and lip sync from audio alone.

Used by studios developing games for 90% of world’s AAA publishers, its tools interpret vocal characteristics and map the data to a muscle systems model to generate anatomically correct lip sync & emotionally accurate expressions.

Condense (Bristol) and Anything World (London) round out the top five.

London firm Blackbird, a browser-based professional cloud video editing and publishing platform, is eighth. It is trusted day in, day out by the likes of BT, Eleven Sports, IMG, Arsenal FC and the NHL.

Lifescore (London), Radio.co/Podcast.co (Manchester), CGHero (Manchester) and Speechmatics (Cambridge) also make the top 10.

Also featuring is Alitu (Dundee), part of The Podcast Host family – a simple tool for recording, editing and publishing podcasts.

The all-in-one podcast maker is used by  2,600+ ambitious podcasters to ship their show – including Logitech, Harvard and Stanford Universities, Intuit, Workday and the NHS.

Andy Nicol, MD of Sputnik Digital, added: “There are some truly ground-breaking businesses in BusinessCloud’s 2023 MediaTech 50 ranking.

“It’s an honour to continue to support the rankings, and the high standards of technology and innovation achieved by all involved.”
