Visual effects firm bought for £410m

Visual effects firm Foundry has been acquired in a £410 million deal.

Foundry, a portfolio company of Hg, has been bought by Roper Technologies Inc, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Foundry is a leading provider of high end visual effects and 3D design software for media and entertainment, visualisation and design-oriented industries.

It provides award-winning creative software for film post production visual effects and is used by the likes of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation.

The London-headquartered firm, founded in 1996, also counts automotive, footwear, apparel and technology companies such as Mercedes, New Balance, Adidas and Google among its clients.

It also has bases in Manchester and Austin, and has more than 6,000 customers in over 100 countries on its books.

Arma Partners acted as exclusive financial advisor to Foundry on the deal.
