Virtuo launches in Scotland

Mobile-only car rental service Virtuo has launched its first Scottish rental location in Edinburgh.

The Virtuo app allows users to register, book and unlock a brand new Mercedes A-Class or GLA vehicle to hire.

The cars will be available at Q-Park Omni car park, a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley, and bring Virtuo’s UK fleet to a total of more than 250 premium vehicles.

“We’re incredibly excited to be expanding to our first location in Scotland,” said Michael Altom, general manager UK, France and Belgium at Virtuo.

“Edinburgh is one of the most exciting, vibrant and populous cites in the UK.

“Locals and visitors alike now have a seamless and hassle-free way to explore everything the city and surrounding Highlands have to offer, without the hassle of getting to a car rental desk or forking out for multiple train tickets.”

The launch comes as part of Virtuo’s wider pan-European expansion, following a €20 Million Series B fundraise led by Balderton Capital, Iris Capital and Raise Ventures.

The company launched in London in the summer of 2018, bringing its mobile-only rental offering to drivers in the UK for the first time.

It now has 13 locations at airports and train stations across the UK including London Heathrow, Victoria, Waterloo, King’s Cross and Stratford International, and Manchester Piccadilly.
