A Manchester FinTech company with 17 years of trading history has been snapped up in a US takeover.

Conferma Pay is a provider of virtual payments technology which connects issuers to B2B procurement platforms, more than 700 travel management companies, major global distribution systems and more than 100 booking tools.

Founded by Simon and Jim Barker in 2005, it is fully integrated with major card schemes, serving more than 50 banking partners who have issued its virtual cards in 96 currencies across 197 countries.

In 2020, for example, it partnered with Visa to make the payment giant’s cards available in mobile wallets.

“Sabre has had a successful partnership with Conferma Pay for many years, and Conferma Pay is the basis upon which its Sabre Virtual Payments proposition is built,” a company spokesperson told BusinessCloud.

“We believe we are now well-positioned to expand on that proposition with Conferma Pay becoming a Sabre-owned entity.”

It has worked with Sabre, a travel technology company based in Texas, for more than a decade.
