Time is running out to enter the inaugural 2023 Yorkshire Tech Climbers.
The event showcases the region’s most exciting digital companies and the closing date for nominations is May 10th.
Yorkshire’s digital industry is the fastest-growing in the UK and is set to create an extra 42,000 digital tech jobs and grow by at least £1.6bn by 2025.
Tech Climbers is an annual list which showcases the top performing product-led technology businesses in the region and aims to gather data to put Yorkshire on the map as an investable, global tech destination.
The initiative is backed by BusinessCloud, and has expanded its footprint to key areas in Yorkshire to raise the profile of the region’s digital, creative and tech sector, enabling more thriving tech businesses to receive recognition for their work.
Submissions opened following a launch event on the April 12th at Department Leeds, where a stellar line-up of tech entrepreneurs and funding experts opened up about Yorkshire’s tech scene.
Speakers included Alex Craven, co-founder and CEO of The Data City, who said Yorkshire needed to play to its strengths.
“Leeds and Yorkshire have got strengths in things like net zero, digital tech sectors, advanced manufacturing,” he said.
“It doesn’t then have to focus on all life sciences and all of the other things. It’s got a FinTech hub, it doesn’t have to rival London. It’s got a MedTech centre, it doesn’t have to rival Cambridge, it can just be comfortable having what it’s got.”
Tech Climbers Yorkshire partners this year are BDO, Mercia Asset Management, Page White Farrer, Hyperact, TD SYNNEX, Ward Hadaway, Leeds City Council, Leeds Digital and STFC.
Tech businesses from Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Doncaster, York, Hull, Wakefield, Rotherham, Scarborough, Harrogate, Barnsley and more areas have until May 10th to get their nominations in.
Previously celebrated businesses from Leeds include HyperFinity, a decision intelligence platform working with leading retailers, and XR Games, a gaming studio led by industry titans.
XR Games previously spoke about the impact of becoming a Tech Climber, highlighting the influence that the list has on celebrating up and coming tech companies.
There is also a ones-to-watch list of up-and-coming businesses that are active in the region and look set for a bright future.
Tech Climbers is organised by Active Profile.
