Digital product agency Studio Graphene has spun out a new software-as-a-service business after investing in creating the technology in-house over the past two years.

Telsen is designed to automate food safety checks and operational monitoring for the hospitality industry. It uses advanced sensors and digital workflows to ensure compliance, prevent safety issues and generate valuable insights for hospitality businesses, allowing them to focus on delivering quality service to their customers.

Founded in 2014, Studio Graphene has successfully delivered over 250 digital products for global brands, startups and scaleups.

Headquartered in London, with studios in Delhi, Lisbon and Geneva, this marks Studio Graphene’s first spinout business, expanding its expertise beyond delivering products for clients towards developing its own IP.

Studio Graphene has tailored Telsen to meet the specific challenges of food safety and asset compliance by intelligently monitoring production and storage and boosting the sustainability of operations through Internet of Things sensors and AI-powered insights.

It has secured its first major client in catering firm Fooditude. It has also recently expanded its monitoring capabilities and is launching international pilots, including its first in Dubai.

With plans for further international expansion, particularly into the Middle East and the US, as well as a major update coming in early 2025, Telsen’s goal is to become a leading compliance solution for the global hospitality industry.

Ritam Gandhi, founder and director of Studio Graphene, has played a key role in the creation of Telsen, with industry experts like Ed Grimes and Safer Food Scores providing valuable guidance in building and scaling the business within the food safety space.

Joel Ross, formerly a senior product manager at Studio Graphene, has been named as managing director of Telsen. He will oversee the platform’s continued growth and success, bringing dedicated leadership to this new venture for Studio Graphene.

“Telsen has been built with Studio Graphene’s core principles in mind – finding innovative solutions that address real world challenges,” said Gandhi.

“It’s a direct response to the needs of the hospitality sector in addressing food waste and safety, and we believe it will offer significant value by automating and streamlining compliance processes.”

Ross added: “The launch of Telsen as its own business is a testament to Studio Graphene’s ability to evolve and push boundaries. This is a really exciting step for us, and it coincided with us partnering with some brilliant paying clients. We’re now looking forward to ramping up Telsen’s global growth and further developing our SaaS platform.”
