The shortlist for the South West Digital Awards has been announced, comprising of 28 businesses and innovators selected for 10 different categories.

The contenders range from individuals to start-ups to fully fledged, international businesses, all located throughout the South West.

The awards will be presented at Plymouth School of Creative Arts on the 27th September 2018. The city centre school is based in Millbay, Plymouth and is sponsored by Plymouth College of Art.

The school’s values echo those of the digital awards, with a focus on encouraging young people to embrace ideas, technology and art to become creative innovators.

Shortlisted companies include an app that helps offices organise their tea rounds, a platform that helps prepare patients for going under anaesthetic and Open Bionics, a company that makes 3D-printed bionic arms.

On the night, shortlisted candidates, sponsors and guests will enjoy a menu of locally sourced, gourmet street food, uniquely created by Exeter’s Pickle Shack as well as welcome drinks provided by Dorset’s Conker Spirit.

In addition, winners will walk away with a bottle of Conker Spirit’s handcrafted Dorset Dry Gin and a trophy created in partnership with Plymouth College of Art.

The inaugural awards will celebrate innovation from around the region, from excellence in healthtech to companies utilising digital to have a social impact.

Across the board, the ten categories represent the breadth of the South West’s digital landscape.

As well as the mass of entries, the awards are garnering support from across the South West community – with partners like Kernow DAT & Bath Digital Festival spreading word alongside confirmed category sponsors LOGO Design, Plymouth University’s Enterprise Solutions and Bristol’s Triangle Networks.
