Radius, the Crewe-headquartered global fleet and connectivity leader, has been appointed by Aston Barclay to enhance its EV charging infrastructure.
The vehicle auction and remarketing supplier has chosen Radius to support with its aim of achieving Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation across its six sites in 2024, having already attained this accreditation for its Donington Park centre in Derby.
Radius will oversee the implementation of modern charge points that optimise the latest technologies and are compliant with PAS:1899, the standard which ensures charge points are accessible to all, consider the local environment and are aligned with placement, information provision and design standards.
Radius’ partnership with Aston Barclay follows hot on the tails of its £10m investment into its EV division. After Radius acquired two EV solution companies, the funding was allocated in 2023 to invest in charging hardware and grow the division’s talented team.
Ben Thompson, managing director of EV and energy at Radius, said: “With its refreshingly progressive and ambitious outlook, we are immensely pleased to be partnering with Aston Barclay.
“We will oversee the design and implementation of EV charging solutions that suit the business not only now, but well into the future.
“With net zero targets looming and operational costs rising, businesses across the UK are starting to embrace their EV potential and it is so exciting to see Aston Barclay paving the way for its industry in this endeavour. We look forward to helping our new partner reach its EVA goals over the coming year.”
New frontier for Radius Payment Solutions following acquisition
The EV charging rollout will begin in early 2024 at Aston Barclay’s Wakefield centre, and plans are in place for further works throughout the year.
Albert Parnell, group EV lead at Aston Barclay, said: “As an organisation, we understand the need to adapt to a more EV-focused landscape, and we have invested heavily in marketing and training around electric vehicles for our colleagues, customers and partners, so the Radius partnership, which will improve the infrastructure across all of our sites, feels like the natural next step.
“We are looking forward to working with the team and utilising its expertise to provide a best-in-class experience for EV users across our sites.”
Radius offers technology-led solutions to businesses in 18 countries across five continents.
Founded in 1990 in Crewe, the company is still headquartered in the town.
EV and energy from Radius provides charging infrastructure and software for both business and home use, helping power the EV transition by supporting customers to make the move from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to hybrid and fully electric vehicles and reduce their usage and energy costs overall.
With an annual turnover of more than £4bn, Radius is one of the UK’s fastest growing companies.
