The CEO of Oxford Metrics plc has stepped down for health reasons.
Imogen O’Connor has served the smart sensing and measurement technology group – serving the life sciences, entertainment, engineering and manufacturing markets – for the last 25 years. She was appointed to lead it three years ago.
Stefan Lampa has been appointed as her successor and as a director of the company and is expected to join in early December 2026.
Gary Bullard, non-executive chair, will act as interim CEO until his appointment takes effect.
“While Imogen has decided that this is the appropriate point to step back from her day-to-day responsibilities, she will remain available to support the group on certain key projects and delivery of an orderly transition through to the end of 2026,” the firm stated.
“Thereafter, Imogen shall remain available to consult to the group on an ad hoc basis, as required.”
Lampa brings extensive international leadership experience across robotics, automation and industrial technology businesses. He was most recently CEO of ProGlove, a provider of smart wearable scanner solutions for industrial applications.
At ProGlove, Stefan led the company’s shift towards software, data and AI-enabled solutions and transitioned its business model from a capex sales model to a SaaS model, which resulted in improved profitability and annual revenue growth of 30%.
Prior to this, he held senior roles at Cargotec, KUKA Robotics and ABB Robotics, including president of Kalmar, CEO of KUKA Robotics and global head of robots and applications at ABB Robotics.
Oxford Metrics says it has strong foundations in Vicon, its global motion capture business, with precision, automation and measurement increasingly important to it. It says Lampa’s background in robotics and automation aligns with growing opportunities for its sensing, software and data capabilities across robotics, simulation, sport, healthcare and AI-enabled applications.
Last week Oxford Metrics agreed a deal to acquire Salford motion capture startup Captive Devices, which was founded by a trio of former Epic Games engineers.
“It has been a privilege to spend more than 25 years with the group, including leading both Vicon and, for the last three years, as chief executive of Oxford Metrics,” said O’Connor. “The business has exceptional people, trusted technology and strong customers.
“The decision to step down has been difficult, but it is the right time for me to focus on my health and support an orderly transition. I am proud of what the team has achieved and confident about the opportunities ahead. I wish Stefan, Gary, the board and everyone at Oxford Metrics every success for the future.”
