Tech training provider Northcoders is expanding its portfolio with the  launch of a bootcamp focused on data engineering, AI and machine learning.

The listed firm, which has bases in Manchester and Leeds, said the first cohort of the Data Engineering, AI and Machine Learning bootcamp will start on 16th June 2025 and last for 14 weeks.

It will teach students advanced data engineering skills as well as a dive deep into AI, machine learning and building their own retrieval-augmented generation AI system – taking them from foundational AI concepts to solving real-world problems with AI applications.

They will gain practical experience with neural networks, decision trees, LLMs, embeddings, and fine-tuning models, all while working on industry-relevant projects.

The bootcamp will also include practical, real-world applications of AI, which are now often in-demand by today’s top employers.

The firm has also secured a new £1.5m finance agreement with NatWest to support its next stage of growth. This includes the £400,000 refinance of the existing 11% loan with Creative England, secured over three years, at a significantly improved fixed rate of 3.5% above base and £1m over four years, at a fixed rate of 2.5% above base.

These superior terms have been secured against the group’s internal IP. The loan also offers the option to increase the facility each year, subject to IP valuation monitoring.

Northcoders continues to have a strong balance sheet, with cash and undrawn loan facilities totalling £2.5m.

“This new bootcamp is designed to be world-class and deliver the cutting-edge skills today’s tech industry demands,” said Steven Oakes, CMO.

“By continually evolving our curriculum to incorporate the latest in data engineering, AI, and machine learning, we are ensuring our graduates are not only ready for current challenges but will also become part of the next generation of data engineers – who won’t simply use AI as a writing tool, but will instead build systems that incorporate AI and ML in ways that push the boundaries of the field.”
