magneticNorth chief executive Lou Cordwell has been appointed the director of the North for female-led funding model AllBright.
AllBright combines an angel network, crowdfunding platform and support services to discover and fund companies led by female entrepreneurs at all stages of growth.
Cordwell, who set up award-winning Manchester-based digital design studio magneticNorth in 2000, will be responsible for hiring at AllBright.
“I have joined the AllBright team because I want to help unlock the mass of female talent here in the North,” she said.
“As an entrepreneur myself, I know how important a strong network that can provide finance and support is.
“My first task is to set-up a team. Our job will be to spread awareness of AllBright providing finance and guidance to smart women across the North who want to start and scale their own businesses.”
Anna Jones, co-founder of AllBright and former CEO of Hearst Magazines UK, said: “Lou is one of the most successful female founders I know and I can’t think of a better person to supercharge our efforts in the region.
“The potential is huge. Stats show that if every woman who wanted to run her own business actually did then we could generate a £10bn boost to UK PLC.
“Our mission is to help make this happen and empower women from all parts of the UK.”
AllBright Crowd is also the brainchild of Debbie Wosskow OBE, founder of Love Home Swap, who featured on BusinessCloud’s inaugural ‘100 Women Role Models of Tech’ list in December.
