MediaTechAppointments

Audoo, the music technology company revolutionising public performance royalties, has appointed a trio of leading music industry figures to its board.

Steve Clark, the global chief operating officer at Round Hill Music, Isabel Garvey, chief operating officer at Warner Music UK, and Sean O’Malley, chief executive officer & founder of Regard Music, have joined as advisors.

London-based Audoo – which topped our MediaTech 50 ranking this year – was founded in 2018 by Ryan Edwards. It provides a solution to the challenges faced in public performance royalty data collection and payment distribution via its Audoo Audio Meter device and insights platform.

Having collectively raised more than $22 million by the end of 2023, with investors including global music and business icons such as Sir Elton John and ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, its Audio Meters have been rolled out across 15 countries and four continents to improve accuracy, transparency and reporting.

Audoo – revolutionising royalty reporting through data

As former executive vice president of global operations at Warner Chappell Music and the current global chief operating officer at Round Hill Music, Clark is a renowned COO with more than 35 years of experience in the music industry and huge knowledge of digital music rights flow and metadata management.

Garvey, chief operating officer at Warner Music UK, is also the former managing director at Abbey Road Studios, where she helped transform the brand’s perception, expanding the studio’s footprint and overseeing the most aggressive investment plan in the history of the business.

Having started her career at the world-renowned investment bank Morgan Stanley, she then decided to apply her expertise to the music industry. During her time at Abbey Road, Garvey setup Abbey Road Red, the incubator which nurtures the most promising music tech startups through its development programme, giving her real insight into the evolution of the music tech space.

Audoo is an alumnus of the Abbey Road Red incubator, which means Garvey has a unique perspective into the development of the company.

O’Malley is the CEO & founder of Regard Music and has over 20 years of experience in music publishing, rights management and royalty collection. Having held senior positions at one of the world’s largest societies, ASCAP, he brings first-hand experience in data collection, processing operations, and systems development.

He also co-founded GMR, the first new performing rights organisation in the United States in 75 years.

The trio join Nigel Elderton, the European president of music publisher Peermusic and former chairman of PRS for Music, and Alistair Macdonald, the former CEO of NASDAQ-listed Syneos Health, on the company’s board.

“Having championed artists’ and songwriters’ rights through my work at both Round Hill Music and Warner Chappell Music, I’m excited to bring my passion and experience to Audoo to help revolutionise the world of public performance royalties,” said Clark.

“The company’s impact on the music industry in just six years has been remarkable and I am looking forward to working with Ryan and the team to further expand its global reach and impact.”

Garvey commented: “After closely observing Audoo since Ryan founded the business, I am thrilled to join as a board advisor. Having worked with musicians and artists throughout my career, I know how vital prompt and accurate royalty payments are. I am eager to contribute to the remarkable work that Audoo is already doing; leveraging my expertise in the music and technology industries to help drive its continued success.”

CEO Edwards added: “We’re delighted to welcome Steve, Isabel, and Sean as board advisors. The level of industry experience and knowledge these three possess is not easy to come by, and I feel very grateful for their continued support of Audoo.

“Their varied experience across major music labels, publishers, and PROs will be invaluable to Audoo’s growth, not to mention relationship-building with international partners.”
