Laundry and dry cleaning service Laundrapp has secured £5 million in additional funding as it looks to expand in the UK and internationally.

The London-based start-up offer customers an on-demand service by collecting and delivering users’ washing to their door.

The £5m funding round takes total investment in the tech firm, which was launched in London 18 months ago, to £10m.

It now has a presence in over 100 towns and cities in the UK.

“It’s an exciting time for Laundrapp. The rate of growth has been tremendous and, despite uncertainties about the general economic climate, our business has never been more popular,” said co-founder and CEO Ed Relf.

“It’s a massive British start-up – and soon to be global success story.”

The former Mind Candy CMO founded Laundrapp with Antony Pink, formerly of Accenture, and Nick Bransby-Williams, formerly of recruitment platform Sooqini.

Relf told BusinessCloud of his app: “You can use it anywhere – for example, if you’re travelling and staying in a hotel – which is why smartphone seems to be a good basis for this type of outsource service.”
