European B2B tech VC SuperSeed has appointed James Sore as principal to expand its EIS fund offering.

His role is hoped to grow SuperSeed’s fund offerings, initially focusing on scaling its EIS fund, as well as aiding the delivery of its larger institutional fund.

Both funds follow the same investment thesis of focusing on early-stage B2B SaaS and AI companies.

SuperSeed’s portfolio includes ThingTrax, a company that uses AI and IoT technology to modernise factories, Scribeless, which has developed handwriting AI to turn Word documents into handwritten letters and SeeQuestor, which offers computer vision for anti-terror and law enforcement activity.

Sore will report to founder Mads Jensen, with a remit is to support the growth of the company in terms of deal flow, systems and processes, partnerships and business development.

Prior to joining SuperSeed, Sore was CIO and fund manager for the online equity investment platform, SyndicateRoom. Over his five year tenure Sore was a key member of the team which saw the company grow rapidly from only four investments and a team of four when he joined, to over 180 investments made by the time he left. He was also instrumental in the creation of the world’s first and only passive fund for early-stage investing, Fund Twenty8, recently rebranded to Access EIS.

In addition to these roles, Sore managed and deployed the SR Growth Fund investing in a number of later-stage companies including; Apexx Global, APEXX consolidates global payment providers into a single integration point and UpLearn, an AI cognitive learning and education software, which guarantees students an A grades or above.

Commenting on his appointment, Sore said, “I’m delighted to be making this move – SuperSeed Ventures is on the cusp of an exciting period of growth. In spite of the current turbulence in the global economy, the fact is the European technology sector continues producing some of the world’s most exciting companies meaning I can help bring the right expertise and capital to the right companies at the right time.”

“James is an outstanding appointment that is an ideal fit for our investment focus”, added Mads Jensen, founder, SuperSeed Ventures. “When it comes to our investments we look for proven quality, outstanding sector expertise and the ability to make a positive difference – all attributes reflected in James. We believe he can make a major difference when it comes to our ambition of becoming one of Europe’s most renowned B2B technology investors”
