HIRING HUB founder Simon Swan has announced he’s leaving the Manchester tech firm after 14 years.
Swan founded the firm, which connects businesses with recruiters to help them find the best candidates, in 2011.
The entrepreneur stepped down as CEO in 2023 after attracting a multi-million pound investment from European private equity fund MonacoSol.
Writing on LinkedIn he said: “After an incredible 14-year journey it’s with excitement, trepidation and pride to announce I’ll be flying the HIRING HUB nest shortly.
“It’s been an epic adventure, and one that’s taught me so much. But I’m ready to explore again, learn new things and write a fresh chapter.
“Fortunately, I can step away confident the business is in safe hands under MonacoSol’s ownership, with Mark Rothwell at the helm.”
Swan said he wasn’t leaving for a new role but felt the time was right.
“I have no grand plan,” he admitted. “I don’t know what’s next and want to take some time to figure that out. (This may involve lots of cycling.)
“It’s been years since I’ve had a clear road ahead and no map to navigate a path, which feels exhilarating.
“In Hernan Cortés’ words, sometimes you have to ‘burn the boats’ to ensure you keep moving forwards.
“So many good people have helped me over the years, for whom I’ll be eternally grateful. I appreciate all the encouragement and every leg-up.
“And to the folks that joined me on this ride, believed it was possible, rolled-up their sleeves and showed up every day to make it count, or invested to make it happen, thank you.
“Here’s to the future, whatever that may bring…”
CEO Mark Rothwell paid tribute to Swan.
“Thank you for everything that you have done in your 14 years at Hiring Hub,” he said. “Your idea has formed a growing, successful business which has created wealth for many boutique recruiters, who without the hub may have not had the opportunity to thrive.
“We will continue to evolve and drive forward with the core HH founder mission pivotal to everything we do.”
