Leeds-headquartered Egton Medical Information Systems has sold its £2m-turnover IT division to a Scottish firm.

Egton Network Services was a Glasgow-based unit within  healthcare software and services business EMIS.

It has now been acquired by Microtech Group, but will continue to serve single sites as well as multi nationals, whether for a one-off contracts or fully managed services.

Chris McMail, managing director of Microtech Group, said: “ENS have strong ties in the retail and hospitality industry.

“The network solutions business perfectly complements our existing IT sales and support, and will further strengthen our service offering to new and existing clients.”

Egton managing director Stephen Wilcock added: “I have worked with Chris and the team at Microtech for several years, I am confident they will provide a good service to our Egton Network Services customers transferring as part of this transaction and wish them well for the future.”

In March, EMIS revealed it is in the process of reducing its workforce by about 100 staff.
