Midlands-based sports fitness clothing brand Gymshark is building a ‘gym and innovation hub’.

The Gymshark Lifting Club will be a creative hub combining research and development with exercise in one unique facility.

Awarding-winning design and build company Oktra are designing the space.

“The new facility will include a studio for the new Gymshark fitness app, a 100-person auditorium, an R&D factory, several high tech photographic studios and a 20,000 sq ft gym,” said Sean Espinasse, lead designer at Oktra.

“The space is designed to be a base for Gymshark’s creative teams, providing unique zones to try and test new ideas and products.”

The 55,000 sq ft high-tech complex will be located in Birmingham, within walking distance of Gymshark’s headquarters also created by Oktra.

Gymshark, which also partners with Innovation Birmingham for the #LiftYourBusiness incubator, is a brand that ships to over 180 countries across the world.

Ben Francis began Gymshark in 2012 by printing T-shirts in his parent’s garage, with the brand now operating 11 online stores across the world.

He said: “During our time in this industry we have had the pleasure of visiting and training at the best gyms in the world.

“GSLC will see us combine our favourite parts of each of these gyms to create something which will serve as the ultimate home to anyone really interested in conditioning.”
