Football travel firm scores with crowdfunding campaign

Football travel firm Homefans has hit 74 per cent of an equity crowdfunding target within a fortnight.

The company, which is based in Cheshire and has an office in the Netherlands, organises group trips to high-profile games, with unique experiences beyond the 90 minutes.

Customers meet locals, go to pub nights and even play football at the club’s official training pitch.

Looking for £100,000 on Crowdcube, it has reached £74,000 so far.

Co-founders Luke Verbeek and Daniel Velásquez came up with the idea after their personal experiences and frustration with football travelling.

“We’re not a standard football package provider – we put a lot of effort on creating unique experiences and bring like-minded fans together to experience football the local way,” said Verbeek.

After taking more than 250 travellers from six different countries across Europe for the past 10 months, Homefans decided to launch its crowdfunding campaign.

Velásquez said: “We have a handful of new experiences in place like a trip to Argentina or long football weekends on the road across different destinations.

“The crowdfunding campaign will help us launch them, scale up and, especially, involve the community to become a part of this journey.”

In just two weeks, the company has secured 74 per cent of the investment and plans to hit the target and overfund.

Homefans is collaborating directly with professional football clubs.
