PE-backed Telcom, the full fibre and fixed wireless internet network provider, has appointed Elliott Mueller as CEO and Steve Best as non-executive director.

Experienced Elliott has previously served as CEO of several organisations in the telecommunications sector, including GT Global, Metronet and Tele2.

Chris Baldock, chairman of Telcom, said: “Elliott is a dynamic, values-driven business leader with a diverse background of experiences and an excellent track record of delivery in the telecommunications sector.

“The board looks forward to working with Elliott to deliver the full potential of Telcom for business customers across the UK.”

Mueller added: “The business has an impressive UK footprint, a strong brand portfolio, a talented team, and an enviable reputation. The company continues its focus on building its solutions for business customers and I am looking forward to working with the team.”

Steve Best previously served on the boards or held executive leadership roles with major UK telecom companies, including EE and BT.

Baldock added: “Steve’s experience and deep connections throughout the telecom sector will provide significant added value for Telcom as we deliver on our growth objectives over the next few years.”

Best added: “This is an exciting time for the company as it continues to grow its wholesale and direct routes to market, bringing dedicated internet to businesses across the UK.

Simon Adcock, head of portfolio and co-fund manager of sustainable infrastructure at Gresham House, said: “We welcome Elliott and Steve to the board of our portfolio company Telcom and look forward to working with them.

“Telcom is at an exciting stage in its growth journey, having recently acquired Luminet in London, adding to its existing networks covering Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, and Birmingham.

“The business is well positioned to be the trusted partner for internet connectivity and related services for businesses throughout major cities across the UK.”

Last year Telcom Group acquired London-based Luminet in an undisclosed deal.

The acquisition will give Telcom Group, which has a workforce of 191 and received a £63m investment from Gresham House in 2021, a footprint in London as part of their growth strategy.
