Manchester businessman Scott Fletcher has thrown his weight behind a tech and investment festival which will feature Apple founder Steve Wozniak as a guest speaker.

The founder of cloud and managed services provider ANS has become a major shareholder in annual two-day event Business Rocks after investing a six-figure sum.

Held on April 21 and 22 at Manchester Central, it features more than 100 international speakers – including X Prize winner Dr Anita Goel – alongside music.

“Business Rocks is an event designed to showcase Manchester’s vibrant tech, entrepreneur and cultural scene,” said Fletcher.

“The decision to back the project was very easy for me, as backing the event is backing the future of the city.”

The event includes tech demos alongside interactive debates and a £50,000 Invov8 Pitch Battle prize.

Founder Jonathon Cadden told BusinessCloud: “My view is everyone pulling together – groups, businesses – is what Manchester needs to reach its potential.”

He added: “We are thrilled Scott is investing in vision of the Business Rocks brand.

“We believe that Manchester will become one of the biggest tech hubs in the world.

“With this in mind, we launched Business Rocks to inspire, engage and network with like-minded people.

“The event will bring together some of the most inspiring and entrepreneurial thought-leaders and start-up CEOs from across the UK and beyond.”
