Dr Sue Black and Prof Vikas Shah set for Camp Digital
User experience design conference Camp Digital returns to Manchester next May.
The annual event held by digital UX agency Sigma is set to welcome 450 guests to the Royal Exchange Theatre on Wednesday 2nd May to discuss the latest trends in digital, design, and UX.
Professor Vikas Shah, chair of FutureEverything, and Dr Sue Black OBE, author of Saving Bletchley Park, are already confirmed as keynote speakers.
Professor Shah, who is also an honorary professor at the Alliance Manchester Business School, will be speaking about his work at Thought Economics, as well as the most pressing issues affecting the digital industry.
The talk will include insights gathered from his interviews with some of the world’s leading thinkers and entrepreneurs, including Sir Richard Branson, Jack Welch, and will.i.am.
Dr Black, saviour of WWII codebreaking base Bletchley Park and founder of BCSWomen, will be talking about her inspiring personal journey which took her from being a single parent living on a Brixton council estate to being one of the top 50 European women in tech, an OBE and an appointment to the Government Advisory Body shaping digital services.
Other confirmed speakers so far include: Per Axbom, UX designer & coach; Katy Arnold of the Home Office; Gareth John and Eve Critchley of MIND; Gavin Elliott, DWP; Ella Fitzsimmons, a digital strategist; Molly Watt, an inclusive design and accessibility consultant, and Alastair Duggin of the Government Digital Service.
They will be speaking on a broad range of topics including digital innovation, service design, accessibility, professional progression in the digital industry, and a range of ‘tech for good’ topics. More speakers are also set to be announced over the coming weeks.
Professor Shah said: “I was delighted to be asked to play a part in next year’s Camp Digital. The event has been a staple in the North West tech calendar for a number of years, and it’s always a fantastic opportunity to hear from some of the foremost minds in the digital industries.
“Digital accessibility – ensuring that everybody has equal access to online services – is incredibly important, and events like this where we all come together to share our views always leave me inspired.”
Shaun Gomm, commercial director at Sigma and host of Camp Digital, added: “Camp Digital is back for its seventh year, and this promises to be the best event yet.
“The occasion has always provided a platform for emerging speakers as well as more established industry voices, and brings together some of the brightest minds in digital, design and UX.
“Inclusive design has always been key to what we do here at Sigma, so it’s wonderful to have so many prolific speakers already confirmed to give their insights on the topic.
“We’re thrilled to have Professor Shah and Dr. Black on board to deliver keynotes, as both have contributed so much to the tech and digital sectors over the years.”
