The co-founder of AIM-listed dotdigital Group has stepped down from the board of the firm with immediate effect.

Simon Bird informed the company, which provides software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology and tools for digital marketing professionals, that he will “pursue other business opportunities”.

The London-based company was established by Bird alongside fellow co-founder ‘Tink’ Ian Taylor.

Dotdigital claims its marketing automation platform is used by over 70,000 people in more than 150 countries worldwide.

Frank Beechinor-Collins, non-executive chairman, described Bird as “the original architect and creative technical force” behind the dotdigital platform.

He described his contribution over the past 18 years as invaluable. Bird did not provide a statement.

In November 2017 dotdigital expanded with the multi-million-pound acquisition of Comapi, a 30-strong Cheltenham business which generated revenues of almost £8 million in 2016.
