Education giant Tes is creating up to 200 roles with a new office which will house experts in data and analytics as well as IT staff.

Tes Global, a digital education company and world-renowned publisher of the Tes magazine, will also employ people working in IT, finance, customer services and sales account management.

The new office of the firm, which has a 10 million-strong online community of teachers and education professionals, will be in Sheffield. Department of Education offices, two thriving universities and other well-known edtech companies are situated nearby.

The group’s new CFO Paul Simpson will be based in the new location from mid-May.

The company has developed a range of digital products to help schools and teachers succeed. This includes a range of teacher training, development and recruitment tools and services and an online resource sharing platform from which lesson plans and teaching resources have been downloaded more than a billion times.

Tes is also now one of the largest teacher trainers in the UK, graduating its 1,000th qualified teacher in 2018.

“We are delighted to be opening a new Tes operation in the heart of the country and have been thoroughly impressed by all that Sheffield has to offer,” said Tes CEO Rob Grimshaw (pictured above).

“At Tes, we believe in the power of teachers to change lives and are proud to provide services that help teachers spend as much time as possible doing the most important part of their jobs – teaching children.

“We are a trusted partner to schools, helping them find staff even when talent is scarce, and we emphasise value for money compared to the headhunter recruitment agencies with which we compete.

“We help schools’ stretched budgets go further, by providing excellent recruitment services and access to a global teacher talent pool.”
