Digital duo want to save the high street

‘Digital growth experts’ Tanya Hemphill and James Gregson have launched WeDisrupt, a new tech-driven marketing agency at The Shed in Manchester city centre.

WeDisrupt is targeting clients in the retail sector to help them track, better understand and effectively use key metrics to drive performance.

The company also aims to drive footfall to stores and keep customers in store for longer using data, technology and communications strategies to improve customer experiences.

It does this by mapping in-store customer journeys to help better understand and address friction points.

“Everyone is talking about how e-commerce is killing the high street yet 85 per cent of retail spend is still via bricks and mortar,” said co-founder and investor Tanya Hemphill.

“Recent statistics show that in 2017, 47 per cent more large retailers were in financial distress compared with 2016.

“The need for large retailers to really understand their customers and become more relevant is reaching tipping point, which is why we feel that a retail-focused approach to generating relevant customer experiences online and offline via data analytics is a service that’s needed now more than ever.

“We’ve identified this opportunity and decided to launch WeDisrupt to work with clients that we know we can help and ultimately grow their customers.”

James Gregson, managing director, added: “More than ever brands want to drive quantifiable and measurable returns on their marketing investments.

“We have built WeDisrupt to ensure that retailers are best equipped to measure, learn from and build upon key performance metrics allowing us to move the dial on marketing activities from new customer prospecting and acquisition through retention and repeat business to drive real and incremental value to the metrics that matter.”
