Cryptocurrency king Bitcoin is back above $50,000 following big gains over the weekend.

At the time of writing (7am UK), BTC has added $3k since Friday morning and is 6% up on its price last Monday.

Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second most valuable crypto, added more than $100 in three days to top $3,325. A 3% gain since Sunday morning has left it 1% up in a week.

Cardano continued its recent successes, moving from $2.51 on Friday to $2.82 on Monday morning.

The Proof-of-Stake blockchain platform, now comfortably the third most valuable coin, is up 31% over seven days.

Behind it in fourth spot in the price table is Binance Coin (BNB). Significant gains over the weekend moved it from $429 on Friday to $478 on Monday, leaving it 13% up in a week.

Another recent success story, Ripple’s XRP coin, fared less well over the weekend. Despite adding two cents to its price to reach $1.24, it is 5% down on its price last Monday.

Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) is also 5% down on last Monday’s price and remains around where it was on Friday morning.

The cryptocurrency market is now worth a collective $2.15 trillion, with the 11,300 coins gaining around 2.8% in value in the last 24 hours.
