Video game developer and publisher Codemasters has entered into a strategic partnership with Chinese tech firm NetEase.

NetEase, which operates some of the most popular international online games in China, will be the exclusive publisher for three of Codemasters’ upcoming PC racing titles within the country, starting with DiRT Rally 2.0.

NetEase will invest in marketing and localising the games to accelerate their growth in the territory. It will also be responsible for obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals in China. Revenue resulting from the partnership shall be shared between the parties.

China is the world’s biggest gaming market.

“We’re delighted that NetEase shares our vision for growing the racing games segment in China, “ said Codemasters chief executive Frank Sagnier.

“Its unparalleled knowledge and track record in publishing AAA games will ensure that we are best positioned for growth in this key gaming market.”
