Community-based tech platform Circle of Trust has launched in Bolton and Oldham.
The platform allows people to search and advertise local jobs and events free of charge in their areas. Once this has been done, Circle of Trust can signpost to local support services and amenities.
The aim of the Greater Manchester-based platform is to help businesses to grow via the power of word of mouth and help people find local businesses recommended by those that they know and trust.
It has already received support from prominent figures, including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, Unit M CEO Lou Cordwell OBE and Robert Downes, development manager at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
“We realised we were perfectly placed to be so much more than the app we had built. That we had a real opportunity to be very useful to the high streets & communities in so many ways,” said CEO and co-founder Tracy Johnson.
“So, we pivoted – we adapted, we listened and now we are launching exciting new bespoke community platforms, individual to each high street.”
Co-founder Susanna Lawson added: “We realised we could have a bigger impact on local communities beyond just supporting local businesses.
“Tracy and I realised after the initial launch of Circle of Trust that actually we could do more to support local communities to connect and thrive.
“If people know what is happening in their area, can find local events, amenities, jobs, as well as use local businesses, everyone benefits. Which is why we are launching the platform.”
Circle of Trust is part of GM Business Growth Hub’s Manchester ASCEND cohort – a six-month programme taking 25 businesses on a scaleup journey with delivery partner KPMG. It is also working with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Its plan is to launch in towns in and around Greater Manchester before rolling out nationally.
