Hosting provider Fasthosts has appointed Rupert Bedell as its new CEO.
Bedell has more than 25 years of marketing and leadership experience in multinational companies including American Express, NatWest and HSBC.
Most recently he served as chief marketing officer at FinTech Paysend, a role he held for just over a year.
He joins a company which manages more than 1.1 million domains and hosts more than 10,000 servers across its UK data centres.
Based in Gloucester, Fasthosts began life as an A-Level project in 1998 and was sold by founder Andrew Michael – who wanted somewhere to host a website – in 2006 for £61 million.
Simon Yeoman, the outgoing CEO, will remain in an advisory capacity until the end of the year “to ensure a smooth transition”.
Yeoman, who has not commented publicly on his exit, joined the company in 2008 and held several roles including operations director and MD before being named CEO six years ago.
“Fasthosts is a rare example of a long-established British business that can compete with major global players in the tech space,” said Bedell.
“My focus will be to build on this strong foundation, driving innovation while ensuring we continue to deliver outstanding service and support to our customers, regardless of their size or industry.”
Fasthosts says it will remain focused on ‘providing scalable solutions to meet the evolving needs of businesses’.
