Car Finance 247, the UK’s leading car finance platform, is highlighting how simple changes to refuelling and charging habits could make a meaningful difference to net zero.

With more than two million electric cars now on UK roads and fuel prices continuing to fluctuate, motorists could be spending significantly more than necessary on every journey.

Manchester-based Car Finance 247 was founded by brothers Reg and Louis Rix in 2006 and has grown into a leading digital car finance platform.

New data from Car Finance 247 shows demand for electric vehicle (EV) finance is accelerating, rising 62 per cent year on year between 2024 and 2025, and increasing nearly 30-fold since 2020.

Adoption is increasingly being driven by mainstream motorists, with drivers aged 35-54 nearly three times more likely to choose an EV than under-25s.

Launched by Car Finance 247, FuelSave brings together fuel and EV charging prices in a single platform. By helping drivers avoid unnecessary detours, identify better-value energy sources and plan more efficient routes, the app supports lower-emission driving alongside everyday cost savings.

Unlike other sites that focus solely on petrol, diesel or electric charging, FuelSave combines all three, making it particularly useful for households and motorists transitioning from traditional vehicles to electric.

Car Finance 247 is encouraging motorists to download the app during Net Zero Week (4-10 July) as a practical way of saving money while making greener travel choices.

The app allows users to compare fuel prices at more than 30,000 UK petrol stations, while EV drivers can quickly find the most cost-effective charging points nearby or along their route.

FuelSave also features a dedicated EV route planner, helping drivers map journeys, identify the most efficient charging stops and avoid unnecessary detours that can increase both costs and energy consumption.

Reg Rix, co-founder and CEO at Car Finance 247, said: “Our data shows us that EV adoption is firmly in the mainstream, led by mid-life buyers managing household budgets.

“FuelSave gives motorists a quick, practical way to compare costs, find cheaper options and reduce the cost of every journey. At a time when households are looking to make their money go further, it’s a simple way to save on an essential expense.”

Fuel and charging prices within the app are updated frequently using a combination of government-backed fuel price data and retailer feeds, giving drivers access to reliable, up-to-date information wherever they are travelling.

Alongside helping motorists save money, FuelSave can also support more efficient travel by helping drivers avoid unnecessary miles and optimise charging stops, reducing energy waste and supporting the UK’s wider transition to lower-emission transport.
