Prime Minister Andy Burnham has sent BusinessCloud’s political podcast Northern Spin soaring up the charts.
The podcast, which was launched in 2022 to give the North a stronger voice, has risen 150 places to No. 51 in Apple’s podcast charts in the Government category.
The podcast is hosted by BusinessCloud Executive Editor Chris Maguire and Frank McKenna, chief executive and group chairman of Downtown in Business, and now has listeners all over the world.
Northern Spin is currently No. 37 in Singapore and No. 82 in Denmark in the Government category, and also has listeners in Japan, the USA and Australia.
The show is sponsored by Sancus Lending UK, a real estate lender headquartered in Manchester and led by Andrew Charnley.
After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, the podcast returned for two special episodes in the run-up to Burnham’s historic Makerfield by-election victory before the decision was made to bring it back permanently.
Burnham is the first Northern-born Prime Minister since Harold Wilson in 1976.

Northern Spin’s latest episode was released on Monday to coincide with Burnham’s appointment as Prime Minister.
